Core Strengthening using Pilates
Pilates focuses mainly on inner muscles of the core. Those muscles are especially important for long-distance runners to maintain stability and efficiency in runs that last from 2 to 10 hours or more.
Here are my 3 favorite Youtube tutorials for Core strengthening, that I use to treat and prevent pubalgia, back pain and all sorts of weaknesses around the hips, pelvis and lower back.
These exercises are especially important to tone some parts of the muscles and fascia that may be too weak for long runs. Here are a selection of pictures showing these weak links (such as the psoas, the transversus, insertions on the pubic crest, etc)
